Tomasz Lewandowski - official coach of Polish Olympic team

We are pleased to inform that coach Tomasz Lewandowski has been nominated by the Polish Olympic Committee as a coach of the Polish Olympic team. Tomasz, along with three other coaches, will be responsible for our Olympic runners.

Besides Tomek there are also Stanisław Jaszczak, Zbigniew Król and Leonid Shevetcov that have been appointed as official coaches. The official ceremony, at which the entire Olympic team of 216 sportsmen and sportswomen was introduced, took place on 7th July in the venue of the Polish Olympic Committee in Warsaw. Marcin Lewandowski was also among the nominees, his nomination confirmed the Olympic minimum that he had met several weeks earlier.

The nomination is a great honour for our coach. Although he had the chance to go to the Beijing Olympics four years ago, but it was a personal endeavour – outside the ranks of the official Olympic team. The trip back then was sponsored through the invaluable help by Franciszek Jarecki.

- In Beijing I didn’t have access to the Olympic Village, but I still felt the vibe of this sports event. I have gathered valuable experience not only as a participant in the biggest sports event in the world, but also as a coach of an athlete taking his first steps in the world of international competition. Now a much bigger challenge is ahead of me – the nomination is means not only joy and professional satisfaction but above all great responsibility. I promise all fans of athletics to do my best to succeed – summarises coach Lewandowski.
